About Us

Scotties Rock Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit public charitable organization dedicated to assisting Scottish Terrier owners and rescue groups with veterinary care expenses when financial resources are limited. Our pay-it-forward model encourages those who receive assistance to give back when they are able, helping to sustain our mission and support others in need.

Judy

Judy Kucharski

Member at Large

Nova Scotia, Canada

Judy lives in Nova Scotia Canada with her husband Don and 3 Scotties (Bruce, Maisie and Mr Bean). Judy’s love for all animals began in her childhood which she shared with dogs, cats, rabbits and snakes. She first fell in love with terriers at 18 when a friend adopted a small scruffy terrier mix. But it wasn’t until she was in her 30’s that she was adopted by her own terrier mix, Sierra, from Macon Georgia. She’s been previously owned by five Scotties: Guinness, Black Angus, Doughall, Molly and Angus The Fair. After Angus went to the Rainbow Bridge, she heard about 2 Scottie puppies that needed to be rehomed. Off she went and rescued the two boys and somehow managed to get their sister Maisie as well. THREE Scottie puppies all at once!!!

Judy believes that all Scotties deserve the best and that’s why helping Scotties however she can is in her blood. She’s volunteered, done charity work and fostering rescues; she hopes to bring that “can do” attitude to her work with Scotties Rock Foundation.

Sally

Sally Bacon

Member at Large

Springfield, Illinois, USA

A proud parent of four adult children—three sons and one daughter—I’ve also had the joy and challenge of raising my oldest grandson, who has autism and ADHD. He recently took a big step and moved into a group home at age 19, and we’re incredibly proud of him.

My passions include sewing and quilting, and I also enjoy ceramics, baking, cooking, and trying out new recipes. When I get the chance, I love to curl up with a good book.
Our home is filled with furry (and fluffy!) companions:

  • Booker, our 13-year-old rescue, is a mix of Australian Shepherd, Border Collie, and a few surprises.
  • Lucy, a sweet 10-year-old Cavapoo.
  • Bonnie, our feisty 7-year-old Scottish Terrier.
  • And let’s not forget our four rescued guinea pigs—Blanche, and the trio of brothers named after spices: Sage, Clove, and Cumin.

Life is busy, full, and full of love—both human and animal. I’m grateful to be part of the Scotties Rock Foundation and look forward to supporting this wonderful community however I can.

Their breeding program meets all national club health standards and has earned both the AKC “Advanced Level” Breeder of Merit and the STCA Hall of Fame honors.

Geiger and Lisa are active ambassadors for the breed, organizing public events and supporting Scottie families—offering guidance during difficult times with compassion and experience. Their strong relationships with veterinarians further enhance the care they provide.

Professionally, Geiger has a background in Information Technology, currently specializing in Security, Privacy, and Compliance. He is also a member of the FBI’s InfraGard program, supporting U.S. critical infrastructure protection.

Bev

Bev Calvert

Member at Large

Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada

Bev has been lucky enough to be owned by dogs since she was 8 years old. Most of her dogs have been rescues—adopted from shelters, found on the streets, or, in the case of her Greyhound boys, retired racers who came through a rescue group. While she has had a few purebred dogs, most have been “pedigree-challenged”—but no matter their genetics, they were all dearly loved, cherished companions and true members of her family.

Bev has been involved in all-breed rescue, as well as Irish Wolfhound rescue, for over 24 years.

Since 2020, she has been without a canine companion. Her beloved Daisy and Jemma are still deeply missed. Scotties have always held a special place in her heart, thanks to a family friend who had a Scottie when she was growing up.

Bev previously served on the SRF Board from January 2017 to January 2019. She stepped away after being diagnosed with double breast cancer and during a major move from Ontario to British Columbia, Canada. During that time, she also took a break from SRF involvement.

Since joining the SRF group in August 2016, Bev has continued to support the Foundation’s auction efforts—both while serving on the Board and behind the scenes.

Allyson

Allyson Lynn

Vice President

Massachusetts, USA

Allyson lives in Western Massachusetts and is owned by her two dogs: Mayzie Nessie Dhu, a Scottish Terrier, and Inky, a sweet mixed terrier. Her first Scottie, Gryffin, made her fall in love with the breed. Gryffin was feisty, independent, loyal, fearless and had a sly sense of humor. Her newest Scottie Mayzie is all that, plus a hefty dose of joyful abandon.

Both Scotties influenced Allyson’s desire to work with dogs. Along with Mayzie, she now assists a local dog trainer part-time, helping owners teach their dogs social skills needed for good canine citizenship.

She joined the SRF Board out of her deep love for the breed and desire to support Scottie owners in times of need.

Treasurer

Stillwater, OK, USA

Kay relocated from Western Pennsylvania to Stillwater, Oklahoma in 2022. Her background includes work in wholesale/retail, manufacturing, and HUD-assisted property management for seniors. She is currently employed as an accounting assistant.

Kay and her husband Bob share their home with two Scotties—Archie and Gracie. Their love for the breed began with their first two Scotties, Sinder and Cheyanne, who have since crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

Bob, a magnetics expert, is launching a new manufacturing facility in Stillwater. The couple has been married for 15 years and enjoy spending their time with their “kids,” spoiling them every chance they get.

Kay is excited to learn from and collaborate with the SRF Board to continue helping Scotties in need.

Becky Bratten

Becky Waynee Bratten

Secretary

Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

A Michigan native, Becky has lived in Las Vegas for the past 20 years. Now retired, she spent her career in hospital administration as a Director of Health Information Management. She and her husband Bill have one adult daughter.

After retiring, Becky and Bill welcomed their Scottie, Piper Louise, into the family. Since then, she’s been lovingly known as “the Warden” to Piper. Becky is convinced that no other breed will ever do.

Becky has supported SRF auctions for several years and now serves as Secretary. She also led the creation of the Scotties Rock Calendar project.

She finds her work with SRF deeply fulfilling, saying it brings together her love of helping people and animals.

Penny

Penny Standley

President

Winchester, Tennessee, USA

Penny lives in middle Tennessee, after spending over 20 years in Atlanta and growing up in Alaska. She is married, has two grown children, and one beloved Scottie named Mac. Her first Scottie, Duffy, sparked her love for the breed and inspired her to welcome Mac into the family.

As one of the original founders of Scotties Rock Foundation, Penny oversees all fundraising efforts and manages Rainbow Bridge tributes.

“I am honored to be able to make a difference in the Scottie community—providing support during difficult times, giving strength for today, and hope for many tomorrows for Scotties and their families by being a part of Scotties Rock and Scotties Rock Foundation.”
